Modification to the speed humps in Cleveland Park
Modification made on Lakehurst on May 24, 2024

Have you noticed the recent modifications to the speed humps in Cleveland Park to allow bike riders to pass without going over the humps?

This is the result of our recent data driven advocacy with the City of Greenville.

With the opening of the SRT extension almost one year ago, we unsuccessfully advocated for modifying the humps in Cleveland Park as the thought by city staff was that most people would rather ride their bikes on the SRT.

We pointed out that our data showed far more bike riders preferred riding on the roads, and two weeks ago the city staff agreed. In an email, the Director of Public Works wrote, “We have added this to our work schedule and are working on modifying additional speed humps.

And going forward with new humps, our traffic team has been advised to leave space in the design for the bicyclists.”

The first photo shows the modification made on Lakehurst on May 24, and the second photo shows the modification made on Cleveland Park Drive that was completed on May 17. We expect the final modification of the hump nearest McDaniel to be completed soon.
