Help Us Build The Lakeview Link

Help Bike Walk Greenville build the Lakeview Link and provide connectivity to the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail

You can help make Greenville County a safer, healthier place to live. We need your help to build the Lakeview Link on the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Just left of the woods pictured below on the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail between downtown Greenville and Furman University (GHS SRT) is Lakeview Middle School.

Bike Walk Greenville is raising funds to build the Lakeview Link, a trail spur connecting the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail and Lakeview Middle School on Old Buncombe Road in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Lakeview Link is a trail measuring 4/10 of a mile in length and is a Public Private Partnership with Greenville County.

The new trail spur will create a safe walking and biking environment for 575 students at Lakeview Middle and the surrounding community along the Old Buncombe Road corridor. One hundred percent of Lakeview Middle’s students receive free lunch, and over 80% of those students also live less than a mile from the school and must walk or bike to school. The spur will also serve Sans Souci and Berea neighborhood residents who will benefit from the safety improvements, access to trail amenities and healthy lifestyle options.

Momentum Bike Club, who mentors at-risk and underserved school-age students through mentoring and cycling, serves the students at Lakeview Middle School. Momentum allows students to experience, many for the first time, Furman University grounds, downtown Greenville, Falls Park, the Cancer Survivors Park, and Travelers Rest – all while learning safe bicycling skills. Currently, without the Lakeview Link spur, students cannot safely access the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail directly from the school, and instead must confront four lanes of high-speed traffic on Sulphur Springs Road and West Blue Ridge Drive.

In order to build the Lakeview Link, we must raise $100,000 by July 1. Help us bring more trail connectivity and safety to the Lakeview community. Show your support for making Greenville County a better place to live by DONATING HERE.

Bike Walk Greenville has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Greenville County that specifies upon raising $100,000 for construction materials by July 1, 2018, the County will start building the Lakeview Link by January 1, 2019.

Bike Walk Greenville is a 501c3 public charity, and donations are tax deductible.
