We are pleased to announce our strong support for the 2024 Greenville County RAISE grant application, which was submitted this spring. This $17 million federal grant, if awarded, will fund the expansion and essential safety improvements to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail Network, specifically near the Union Bleachery development in the Sans Souci area of Greenville.
To demonstrate the broad community backing for this highly competitive grant award, Bike Walk Greenville has initiated a postcard campaign aimed at encouraging residents to express their support for the grant application. These postcards and letters, which will be sent to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), highlight the diverse and enthusiastic support of the Greenville community for our much beloved local trail network.
“The Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail is a vital asset to our community, providing transportation and recreational opportunities, promoting health and wellness, and connecting various neighborhoods,” said Jasmine Vanadore, Executive Director of Bike Walk Greenville. “The proposed improvements will enhance safety and accessibility, ensuring that the trail can be enjoyed by even more residents and visitors. We are calling on our community to join us in this advocacy effort.”
All community members are invited to participate by submitting their own letters or brief statements describing what the Swamp Rabbit Trail means to them and why they believe the federal grant should be awarded. These personal testimonials will be compiled and sent to the USDOT as part of our advocacy campaign.
Submissions should be emailed to Jasmine Vanadore at jasmine@bikewalkgreenville.org by 5 PM on June 27, 2024. Your voice is crucial in showing the USDOT the immense support and positive impact this project will have on our community.
